N2  - RésuméComment évaluer les progrès actuels de la génétique? C’est dans le regard porté sur l’existence humaine elle-même que se trouvent les repères nécessaires à la formulation d’un tel jugement éthique. Or, un double positivisme peut imposer ici la rigidité de ses cadres : celui de la science qui n’approche l’être humain qu’en l’enfermant dans la clôture de sa méthode (J. Monod), celui de la démocratie qui décide du statut juridique et du sort final de l’embryon dans le champ clos de l’agir communicationnel (J. Habermas). Mais les contradictions logiques dans lesquelles s’enferment ces positions invitent à ouvrir la perspective : en rappelant d’abord l’engendrement de l’être humain par l’union de l’homme et de la femme, en ramenant ensuite la science et la démocratie au jardin de cette autre "génétique" qu’est la première page de la Bible. It is in the view of human existence itself that the necessary reference points for the formulation of such ethical judgment are found. However, a double positivism can impose here the rigidity of its frameworks : that of science which approaches the human being only by locking him up in the closure of his method (J. Monod), that of democracy which decides on the legal status and final fate of the embryo in the closed field of communicative action (J. Habermas). The logical contradictions in which these positions are enclosed invite us to open up the perspective, first by recalling the birth of the human being through the union of man and woman, and then by bringing science and democracy back to the Garden of that other « genetic » which is the first page of the Bible.
