Abstract
The sanitary protection of the French from 1914 to 1918
Bearing in mind the sanitary disaster of 1870-1871, in 1914 the French political and military authorities were aware that a war cannot be won with sick soldiers. So they managed to provide the soldiers withthe best possible hygiene in order to avoid them to be taken ill. On the other hand, all along the four years of the war, the French military medical corps worked for improving the care taking of wounded soldiers. As for the civilians, they did also benefit from sanitary protection measures, especially to prevent epidemics hanging over the army.
