L’espèce… frontière de l’infini !

Résumé

Selon certains, l’espèce humaine pourrait un jour – grâce aux progrès scientifiques – s’extraire de sa condition de mortel. Les transhumanistes s’en réjouissent, espérant vivre indéfiniment. Pourtant, les frontières temporelles qui régissent la vie humaine ont une dimension juridique, elles sont traduites notamment dans les dispositions des Codes civil et pénal qui les protègent via les notions d’Humanité et d’intégrité de l’espèce humaine : autrement dit, « la mort est (pour l’instant) d’ordre public ».

Abstract

According to some, the human species could one day – thanks to scientific progress – escape its mortal condition. Transhumanists rejoice in this, hoping to live indefinitely. However, the temporal boundaries that govern human life have a legal dimension, they are engraved in particular in the lines of the Civil and Penal Codes that protect them via the notions of Humanity and integrity of the human species: in other words, “death is (for the moment) a matter of public order”.
