Abstract
Digital health – from telehealth to artificial intelligence – is reshaping the care relationship along two lines. On one hand, it empowers patients, who gain autonomy, reposition themselves in relation to their caregiver, take control of their medical records, and become active participants in their own care. On the other, while it improves the physician’s practice, it silently increases their obligations – first and foremost ethical ones (independence, attentiveness, evidence-based medicine, ongoing training) – of which the physician is not always aware. This lack of awareness leaves them vulnerable, extending into the realm of civil, administrative, and criminal liability.
